Sophomores participate in a fun and educational history midterm review session

On Thursday January 12, US History teacher Jennifer Coleman reviewed all of the units that students learned throughout the year. This helped many students to review and ask any questions about the test for next week.

Friendship tree lighting features performances from the high school, middle school, and elementary school.

On Dec. 14 the annual Community Friendship Tree Lighting, hosted by the Manchester Woman’s Club, featured performances from local school chorus’s and bands. At the conclusion of the ceremony, patrons were served hot chocolate and viewed the tree lighting.

Manchester Essex high school’s annual Veterans Day ceremony

Each year students gather together to honor the Veterans with an assembly. Each student takes a break from their classroom work to come together in the auditorium to hear others speak, sing, and play instruments in order to honor the Veterans. High school as well as middle school students sat and listened as a number of speeches were mad and songs were played. The assembly featured the high school band and chorus, as well as the high school a cappella group, The Soundwaves.

Soccer teams celebrate seasons with annual banquet

The boys’ and girls’ soccer teams gathered in the cafeteria to enjoy ice cream from Captain Dusty’s before splitting up to celebrate their respective seasons with their coaches and parents.

On Monday nights, the Manchester Essex Regional High School journalism class meets to edit and write stories for the school paper, The Independent.

Math teacher retires after a decade of teaching

Math teacher Stephen Levinson announced that he will be leaving his post here at Manchester Essex. Levinson has worked here for 10 years and will be missed by all those who knew him. The school is searching for a replacement and has promised students a new teacher by next week.

Green team travels to Beverly to harvest vegetables

On Friday September 30th members of the green traveled to Moraine Farm in Beverly. When they arrived they picked a variety of different vegetables for the Middle/High school cafeteria.

“World Challenge” presents the upcoming trip to Costa Rica/Nicaragua

World Challenge is a company that partners with the school district to send students to developing countries for self directed adventure and service programs. Last summer, students traveled to Ecuador. The trip planned for next summer will visit Costa Rica and Nicaragua. Faculty advisor Eric Magers arranged to have the students from the Ecuador trip present the program to the entire high school.
