Author Mitchell Zuckoff talks about his book, Lost in Shangri-La

On Wednesday the 14th, author Mitchell Zuckoff came to the school to talk about his adventure book Lost in Shangri-la.  Lost in Shangri-la is based on a true story in which members of the US military got stranded in a valley called Shangri-la in New Guinea.  After the presentation, the author met with a small discussion group of high schoolers who had read his book for summer reading.

MERSD Ski Team practices on turf field for preseason

The Manchester-Essex Varsity Ski Team begins their preseason flat dry land practice. Practice started this week in preparation for practice and races at Bradford Mountain in Haverhill MA.

Norman Dandridge, a graduate and admissions representative of the Art Institute of Boston and Lesley University, speaks to art students about college level art study. The Art Institute of Boston also offers classes for high school students.

Varsity Boys Basketball scrimmages teachers in Preseason Game

Robert Billsbury, head coach of the Boy’s Varsity Soccer team, and Collin Cook, the Boy’s Varsity Soccer Assistant Coach, helped a few members of the Boys Varsity Basketball Team tune themselves up during a preseason scrimmage. The Manchester Essex Boys Varsity Basketball team is looking to have another strong season, despite last year’s loss of center Joe Mussachia, who is currently playing for Amherst College, a Division 3 powerhouse.

Students practice for the fall musical and produce promo video

The Drama Club is working on a new musical, led by drama teacher Gloria Tanner.

1776 tells the story of how the United States gained its independence, and includes singing and dancing by the case members.

The play begins at 7:00 pm on the 17th, 18th, and 19th.

The club also produced a promotional video, produced by freshman Courtney MacDougall, shown below.

Boys Varsity soccer face tough defeat against Lynnfield

The Manchester-Essex boy’s varsity soccer faced a tough defeat in their 6-1 loss against Lynnfield on October 3. So far the Hornets Varsity Soccer team is 2 and 6.
