Seniors celebrate their last night at Manchester-Essex High School

Style in the Hall:Prom 2012

On May 25, juniors and seniors gathered at Tucks Point in Manchester to take photos and meet their dates before heading to the school to get the buses for the venue. Bright colors and flowy silhouettes were a must for this season’s prom style.

Middle school performs in spring concert

On May 17, the middle school band and chorus had their annual spring concert. The band performed a number of classics and the middle school A Cappella Singers performed alongside the chorus.

Summer reading books on display in library

For the next week, summer reading books are on display in the library for students to view. On May 14, students are required to tell their history teachers their top three choices for this summer. Books are chosen by teachers in every department and range in a variety of genres.

Students attend college fair

On Wednesday May 2, students traveled to North Reading High School to go to their College Fair. There were over 100 colleges represented from all over the United States and even a few international colleges.

Boys Lacrosse play for Cancer Research

The Gloucester Boys Lacrosse Team played the Manchester- Essex Hornets Boys Lacrosse on April 21st. Before the Varsity and Junior Varsity Games the boys were selling pink shirts in order to raise money for breast cancer research.

Girls Tennis trumps Hamilton- Wenham

On Wednesday April 11, the girl’s tennis team won their match against Hamilton-Wenham. The match was away at the Hamilton-Wenham courts and Manchester-Essex won 5 to 0. The girls played a great game, considering the weather conditions that they faced.

Terezin: Children of the Holocaust

The play “Terezin: Children of the Holocaust” by Anna Smulowitz; was written based on her mother’s experience. Her mother was in charge of all of the prisoners in the building they were in. Smulowitz and her actors have been invited to go to Germany and perform their play for a number of schools there within the next year.

Former faculty member informs students about Japan

 

Gayle Macklem, who just returned from her visit to Japan, came to present for International Week. She talked about the different celebrations and traditions that young Japanese children experience as part of their culture.
