Varian Wind Speaks at Manchester Essex

The company Varian, who partnered with Gloucester Engineer toured and spoke to Manchester Essex Regional High School students about their construction of three wind turbines in Gloucester. The turbines provide power for businesses and help boost the local economy.

Manchester Essex hosts third annual senior citizen lunch

               Senior citizens from around the North Shore gathered in the Manchester Essex High/ Middle School’s cafeteria for a warm holiday meal. They enjoyed performances by the high school band, chorus, and sound waves. This has been the third annual holiday lunch and the tradition that is bound to continue for many more years.

Manchester Essex Regional High School hosts A Night of Stars

The community gathered in the MERHS Auditorium for a show filled with the talents of the two communities students. The performances were a benefit for The Spaulding Trust which gives grants to MERSD projects.

Manchester Essex high school stages a mock election

The history department staged a mock election in all classes.  This gave the student body a chance to see what an actually election is like. The outcome of the vote resulted in Obama gaining 59.4% of the student bodies votes.

The Green Team Scholars were privileged to hear presentations from Larry Simpson, the director of business development for Sodexo, and Dr. James Elder the director of the Green Ribbon Schools award.

Author of “Townie”, Andre Dubus III, Speaks to High School Students

Andre  Dubus III visited Manchester Essex High School on October 22. Dubus talked about his childhood struggles and how he found comfort in writing. Dubus stated, “writing is an active humility.” He is a known American novelist and short story writer.

High school band practices for Friday football games

During the fall season the High school band has no major performances such as concerts. During the fall season the band is known as the Pep band. Peppy music is rehearsed during practices to ensure the band is ready for the almost weekly Friday football games.

Alliance for Climate Education presentation urges students to go green

The Manchester Essex Green Team invited speaker Rouwenna Lamm of ACE to promote the goal of building a generational shift to solve climate change. The high school staff and student body gathered in the auditorium to interact with the presentation.
