The high school girls’ softball team went up against North Andover on May 6. This season has been different from the last due to the new home field, as well as new captains Corey Bradley, Rebecca Lynch, and Patty Wright. Sweeney Park’s little league baseball field used to serve as the varsity softball field, but a change was necessary;  although the team was comfortable with its old field, opponents often complained because of the grass and raised pitching mound, which is unlike a softball field with a flat, dirt mound. The team was very excited to hear of the new playing grounds and is happy with the results. They have had a couple home games and the next is scheduled for May 16 against Triton High School. They lost against north Andover 11-5.
