Library Hosts Book Fair

From the 3rd until the 7th of December, a book fair was set up in the library during school. Sponsored by The Book Shop in Beverly Farms, it featured a wide array of popular books for both the Middle and the High School.

Green Team Scholars participate in Sustainability day

On November 8, 2012, Green Team Scholars participated in Sustainability Day. Scholars had the opportunity to learn about the green aspects of Manchester-Essex high school and explore the local community.

Larry Simpson and Dr. James L. Elder speak to Green Team Scholars

The Green Team Scholars were privileged to hear presentations from Larry Simpson, the director of business development for Sodexo, and Dr. James Elder the director of the Green Ribbon Schools award.

Author of “Townie”, Andre Dubus III, Speaks to High School Students

Andre  Dubus III visited Manchester Essex High School on October 22. Dubus talked about his childhood struggles and how he found comfort in writing. Dubus stated, “writing is an active humility.” He is a known American novelist and short story writer.

High school hosts homecoming games

On October 12, students from all classes met at the high school to raise money for each grade. Students sold a variety of food and drinks, along with some Manchester Essex memorabilia to fans watching the four sports games that took place that day.

Seniors raise money for class trip

The Sacred Heart Church in Manchester hosts its first ever yard sale to fund future church events. Tables could be purchased for $25. Local venders had the opportunity to sell their crafts and make profits their businesses. The senior class took advantage of this opportunity and purchased a table at the yard sale. Proceeds went towards the senior class trip.

Alliance for Climate Education presentation urges students to go green

The Manchester Essex Green Team invited speaker Rouwenna Lamm of ACE to promote the goal of building a generational shift to solve climate change. The high school staff and student body gathered in the auditorium to interact with the presentation.

Students eat food from organic garden

The Manchester Essex High School, in collaboration with the Green Team has created a “green garden”. Students are served these organically grown vegetables in the high school dining hall.

First fire drill prepares students for emergencies

The school year kicks off with a fire drill to show the new staff and students the proper procedure in case of a fire. This helps prepare the faculty and students for the case of an actual emergency.  Close to 1000 people exited the school in under 3 minutes.  Click on images for slideshow.
