Students Study Titration with Oxalic Acid

Sophomores and juniors taking chemistry as a course did a lab this past week, with the objective to determine the concentration between two basic solutions by titration using oxalic acid. In the lab, students also used phenolphthalein as a color indicator to see what was happening in the chemical reaction.

Senior Citizens Tour MERHS Art Show

Local senior citizens who live in Manchester went on a mystery ride to the high school to view the high school art show. A mystery ride is a car ride to a surprise location for their field trip. The seniors toured artwork, guided by members of the National Art Honors Society, and had tea with cookies supplied by the school.

‘A Night of Theatre and Songs’

Seniors Chloe Schwartz, Kelsey Trumble, and Nicole D’Ambrosio conducted a series of performances for their senior SCORE project. They titled the play “A Night of Theatre and Songs.” High school students acted, played instruments, and sang.

3D Printing for SCORE

Seniors Kevin Cellucci, Chris Xavier, Jacob Martz, and Austin Waldsmith are working with a 3D printer for SCORE. SCORE is a program where seniors spend their fourth quarter working on projects or internships. Seniors have the option to pick chose a topic of their preference. The 3D is conducted by the computer to make specific objects with used is wax.

Raising Money with Pizza

Manchester Essex Regional High School’s sophomore class sold pizza after school. They raised money for the sophomore class. The money is to use for future events, such as prom and other senior activities.

Manchester Essex Hosts a Poetry Slam

Manchester Essex Regional High School invited five poets to the school. The assembly was a poetry slam, which is a competition of who has the best poetry. Unlike common poetry, poetry slam is spoken faster, to a beat, and has more motion.

MERSD Welcomes Two New Principals

The Manchester Essex Regional School District has had to choose two new principals for the middle and high school. Parents of students that go to the middle/high school had the chance of meeting the new principals on Tuesday night, March 25th. Patricia Puglisi will be the new high school principal and Steven Guditis will be the new middle school principal.

After School Dodgeball Tournament Raises Money for Somaly Mam

Middle school and high school students came together for a fun after school game of dodgeball. Seniors were in charge of each student’s entry to the game. The money raised from the dodge ball tournament went to Manchester Essex’s global issues class for their cause Somaly Mam.

International Week Includes Presentations to High School Students

Paul Clarke presented to middle and high school students about his trip to the Azores. He gave an overview of the islands and culture. Charles Diaz is the son of one of  French teacher, Julia Gross. He taught students facts about France and the French culture he experienced as kid.

Green Team: Bag It

 

 

The Manchester Essex Regional High school’s Green Team hosted the movie “Bag It” after school this past week. The film is to support the no plastic rule in Manchester. This law will ban the use of plastic bags and help save the environment.
