Middle school password club begins

Drama Festival Holds First Rehearsal

The 2012 Drama Festival members have their first rehearsal, in order to prepare for their performances in March. This year, the cast is doing a collection of 5 David Ives plays.

Students act out The Great Gatsby, Jerry Springer style

A junior A.P. English class read The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald. After finishing the book students were assigned a project by english teacher Debra Isensee to perform an episode of the Jerry Springer Show with the characters from the novel. The Jerry Springer Show is a talk show that invites in people to discuss their personal problems.  Students dressed up and acted as their characters.

Alumni talk to junior class about preparing for college

Last year’s senior class members came back to talk to the junior class about the college experience.  They talked about applying to college and when juniors should start thinking about the application process, and how to choose the right college.

Manchester Essex high school’s annual Veterans Day ceremony

Each year students gather together to honor the Veterans with an assembly. Each student takes a break from their classroom work to come together in the auditorium to hear others speak, sing, and play instruments in order to honor the Veterans. High school as well as middle school students sat and listened as a number of speeches were mad and songs were played. The assembly featured the high school band and chorus, as well as the high school a cappella group, The Soundwaves.

School tries to reduce paper waste

The Manchester Essex High School and Middle School are determined to eliminate waste and help save the environment. Throughout the school there are different features all focused on reducing the schools paper waste. Such features include recycling bins and printers that help with double sided printing.

High school gym class plays capture the flag for “Friday Fun Day”

 On Friday September 30th, M’Lena Gandolfi’s high school gym class went out on Hyland turf to play a game of capture the flag.  Every Friday, the students get to have a “Friday fun day”, or a day to choose the game they want to play in class.  This Friday, the majority of the class voted to play capture the flag.
