Students Study Titration with Oxalic Acid

Sophomores and juniors taking chemistry as a course did a lab this past week, with the objective to determine the concentration between two basic solutions by titration using oxalic acid. In the lab, students also used phenolphthalein as a color indicator to see what was happening in the chemical reaction.

Senior Citizens Tour MERHS Art Show

Local senior citizens who live in Manchester went on a mystery ride to the high school to view the high school art show. A mystery ride is a car ride to a surprise location for their field trip. The seniors toured artwork, guided by members of the National Art Honors Society, and had tea with cookies supplied by the school.

3D Printing for SCORE

Seniors Kevin Cellucci, Chris Xavier, Jacob Martz, and Austin Waldsmith are working with a 3D printer for SCORE. SCORE is a program where seniors spend their fourth quarter working on projects or internships. Seniors have the option to pick chose a topic of their preference. The 3D is conducted by the computer to make specific objects with used is wax.

Raising Money with Pizza

Manchester Essex Regional High School’s sophomore class sold pizza after school. They raised money for the sophomore class. The money is to use for future events, such as prom and other senior activities.

Manchester Essex Hosts a Poetry Slam

Manchester Essex Regional High School invited five poets to the school. The assembly was a poetry slam, which is a competition of who has the best poetry. Unlike common poetry, poetry slam is spoken faster, to a beat, and has more motion.

Green Team: Bag It

 

 

The Manchester Essex Regional High school’s Green Team hosted the movie “Bag It” after school this past week. The film is to support the no plastic rule in Manchester. This law will ban the use of plastic bags and help save the environment.

Harry Potter Club Comes to MERHS

Students came after school to the Harry Potter Club, directed by Ms. Epp, to discuss events that take place within the books and movies. The high school and middle school students also play games to test each other’s knowledge. In the future, the group may also do charitable work in partnership with the Harry Potter Alliance.
