Girls alpine ski team defeats Austin Prep

Manchester-Essex’s girl’s alpine race team competed January 13th against Austin Prep, which resulted in a 76-59 victory. All races take place at Bradford ski hill where the girls race Mondays and Wednesdays.

Green Team learns about wind power

The Green Team went to an assembly regarding wind power and solar energy before vacation. Former Manchester Essex graduate Andrew Brousseau and wind turbine expert Bill Vachon present individually on alternative energy sources and persuade the team to continue working towards a better world for upcoming generations.

MERSD collects toys for Pathways

Manchester Essex Regional School District has their annual toy drive, collecting hundreds of toys for Pathways for Children. The toys are to be delivered Friday to the organization.

Students explore Manchester and its history

History teachers Jen Coleman and Abigail Donnelly lead a backyard history workshop around Manchester for MERHS’s Workshop Wednesday. Coleman and Donnelly taught the students the basic history of Manchester, traveling to cemeteries and historical centers to further analyze and learn about Manchester back in the day.

MERSD entertains audience with annual “Night of Stars”

The Spaulding Education Fund hosts their 5th annual “Night of Stars” talent show as a fundraiser to benefit MERSD. All donations and fundraisers provide grants that boost student achievement in core subjects such as reading, science, foreign languages, music art, physical education, math and writing within the Manchester Essex School District.

The new middle school principal Steve Guditus has started to bring middle school outside during their lunch block. They are able to run around and release energy before classes in order to maintain focus.

Eighth grade English teacher Vidula Plante leads students in an activity to focus on the ways that setting could raise conflict and offer solutions. Students learn about the use of setting to affect a story.

College financial aid workshop held for parents

Spaulding and MERSD work together to host a college financial aid workshop for Manchester- Essex parents. The workshop provided all necessary information on the requirements for college applications, early decision programs, and choosing the right college for your student.

Sixth grade health class constructs skeletons

Mr. Ricci-Munn’s sixth grade health class is learning about the human skeletal system, and did an activity about the location of each individual bone. This helped students have more of a visual understanding of the system, while interacting with one another and having fun.
