Students explore Manchester and its history

History teachers Jen Coleman and Abigail Donnelly lead a backyard history workshop around Manchester for MERHS’s Workshop Wednesday. Coleman and Donnelly taught the students the basic history of Manchester, traveling to cemeteries and historical centers to further analyze and learn about Manchester back in the day.

Student athletes attend annual winter sports meeting

At the beginning of each season, student athletes are required to attend the annual sport meeting. This season, students involved in basketball, swimming, skiing, track, and ice hockey go to the winter sports meeting that was held on December 8th in the auditorium.

7th graders visit the annual book fair

Every year the school has an annual book fair, by The Book Shop. The Book Shop is located on 40 West Street in Beverly Farms (across from the Beverly Farms MBTA train station). Their hours are Monday-Saturday 9:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. Books in the book fair are provided by The Book Shop. The prices of books range from $5.99-28.99 depending on the book(s) you chose to purchase.

Advisee students learn to cook from scratch

English teacher Allison Krause and workshop advisory leader Ann Cameron teach high school students how cook from scratch on December 4th during Advisory Workshop Wednesday. Students learned how to make homemade apple pie and chicken pot pie.

Librarian and English teacher hold holiday crafting advisory

During Advisory Workshop Wednesday, all high school students chose a class to participate in and expand their knowledge. One of the options was holiday crafting. In this workshop, students had the opportunity to create and decorate holiday stockings.

During Advisory Workshop Wednesday on December 4th, art teacher Marion Powers gave a lesson on painting with unexpected objects. Workshop Wednesday was started by math teacher Sarah Deluca and there were over 30 workshop high school students could choose to sign up for.

Wreath making offered for workshop Wednesday

For Advisory Workshop Wednesday held on December 4th, some student’s choose wreath making to get into the holiday spirit and learn the basics of making and decorating wreaths. Once students were finished decorating wreaths, they are allowed to bring them home to use as Christmas decorations.

Chemistry class practices lab procedures

Science teacher Keith Gray conducts labs in his chemistry classes on a regular basis. Before each lab, students must complete a pre-lab in order to gain a full understanding of what they will be testing before they do it in class. Students are split off into partnerships of two people, and they work together for each lab. The purpose of the lab was to test how well the students measured their original materials and check their margin of error.
