District teachers join for collegiate volleyball

Teachers from the entire district came together for a night of collegiate volleyball. It helped to build a sense of community between the teachers.

High school girls basketball prepares for the season

In preparation for the upcoming tryouts on December 2nd, girls scrimmage and shoot around during preseason. Preseason allows the girls to work on their skills and get in shape before the beginning of the season.

Sophomore teaches class lesson in cinematography

On Wednesday, November 20th, sophomore Liam Crossen taught the photo 2 and visual journalism class the basics of how to shoot video with a DSLR camera. Crossen got into film at a very young age because he watched a lot of movies and gained an interest in how they come together, so he went to the library to get books on how to make movies. Crossen also uses the internet to figure out how to do new things with his camera.

Cross Country teams qualify for All-States

On Saturday, November 16, 2013, the Hornets team traveled towards Central Massachusetts to compete in the All-State competition. This is the first year that the girls and the boys have both qualified.

Advisory Discusses Stress

In the most recent advisory meeting, groups gathered together to discuss stress, ways to alleviate it, and what makes us students stressed out. Teachers showed students a video on how other people use activities to relieve stress, and talked a lot about statistics referring to how stress can affect your life.

Manchester Essex Regional School District students gather in the gym to honor veterans who have fought in our country. Each year, veterans come around this time of the year and give honorable speeches to students and faculty.

Sophomore biology class studies buffers in various solutions

Biology teacher Maria Burgess creates a lab to show how pH levels are controlled with different buffer solutions. These buffers react with acids and bases to keep the levels within a particular range. Students learned throughout this lab that acids are substances that release hydrogen ions when dissolved in water and bases are substances that release hydroxide ions when dissolved into water.
