Guest artist teaches printmaking class gyotaku

During the week of December 3rd, art teacher Tamera Burns invited a local artist to teach her printmaking students something new. Joe Higgins brought in a gallery of his artwork for students to see as well as some fish he has used to create prints. This is a traditional Japanese form of fish printing called gyotaku. Higgins learned this art by watching videos on YouTube and says “you really can’t go wrong with a fish print”. Higgins sells his artwork out of a gallery he has in Salem, MA and teaches gyotaku to children at Boys and Girls Clubs.
