Eighth graders Niki Bothwick and Bella Mastendino were among the many volunteers and students who shared their overseas experience with classmates. Bothwick gave a presentation on New Zealand and Mastendino spoke about India.

Four DECA students qualify for International Conference

DECA advisor Dean Martino and 24 students traveled to Boston on March 8, 2012 for the DECA State Career Development Conference. While at the competition, senior Ian Martin, junior Brian Gibson, junior Ellie Mortillaro, and junior Taylor Ketchum qualified for the International Career Development Conference in Salt Lake City, Utah, from April 28 to May 1, 2012.

Students’ artwork displayed at Boston Globe Scholastic Art Awards

Manchester Essex high and middle school students submitted original artwork to the Boston Globe Scholastic Art awards. On Sunday March 11th, 2012, each winner was invited to attend the art exhibit and ceremony to accept their gold key, silver key, or honorable mention.

History teacher James Wallimann’s senior global issues classes host a fundraiser at the popular restaurant The Landing in Manchester. The class wants to raise money for H20 for Life, which is a organization that helps build wells in third world countries.

Sophomore gives Nicaragua presentation for International Week

On March 13, 2012 sophomore Lea Manzo informed a group of middle school students of her experience in Nicaragua. Manzo is one of the many presenters who will be talking about a specific country they have visited or lived in for International Week.

Students learn about Guatemala during International Week

 

On Tuesday, March 13, the students of high school foreign language classes gathered in the auditorium to listen to presenter Thayer Lawson talk about her trip to Guatemala. Throughout the week, different speakers will present to the foreign language classes on a country that they visited.

Dodge ball Tournament fundraises for H2O for Life

On March 13, members of the H2O for life organization for creating a clean water supply in developing countries, sponsored a dodge ball tournament in the gym to raise money to build a well at a school in Haiti. The students volunteers for H2O for Life were successful in raising seven hundred and fifty five dollars at the event, which will go towards building the well in Haiti.

Anatomy class dissects cow eyeballs

Science teacher Maria Burgess provided the Anatomy and Physiology class with cow eyes for a dissecting lab. The anatomy class dissected the eyeballs to see the different components that make up the structure of an eyeball.

New library happenings for springtime

Library Assistant Cathy Hunt and Librarian Sue Krause bring new and exciting changes to the library. This includes new decorations in and outside of the library. Also, senior students work on Jigsaw puzzles as a stress relieving activity.
